Born on this day in 1743, Jefferson was a Founding Father, an author of the Declaration of Independence, and the third president of the United States of America serving from 1801-1809. During his presidency Jefferson organized the Louisiana Purchase, which nearly doubled the United States’ territory. In our collection, we have a report regarding the Louisiana Purchase expedition presented by Jefferson to the Senate on February 1806.
