Ongoing reports of sexual harassment and sexual assault in the cultural sphere have underscored the entrenchment of sexism and gender-based violence in our society, and brought needed attention to the grave impacts of these forms of bias and violence. We are indebted to artists who address these issues in their work and help catalyze social change. Fearlessly tackling sexism and racism in the arts since their founding in 1985, the iconic feminist Guerrilla Girls collective has long been at the frontlines of conversations on oppression and exclusion. Brooklyn Museum recently acquired over 50 Guerrilla Girls posters, and remains committed to celebrating and honoring the work of artists whose practice is dedicated to social justice issues and equality.Posted by Allie RickardGuerrilla Girls (established United States, 1985).
