sersi:The Return of Monica RambeauWandaVision (2021) dir. Matt ShakmanWhile I could have continued on with the sitcom throwbacks, I think this break from the WandaVision show was a fantastic choice, and important for those fans that were getting tired of not getting answers. I feel like this episode answered 80% of the questions we had, while also introducing new ones.I also want to highlight how much I appreciate the spotlights that Monica Rambeau, Jimmy Woo, and Darcy Lewis are getting in this show. These were already great side characters, and Marvel Studios seemed to recognize it, so they made them central characters this time around. That is one of the luxuries of having a show in Disney+ with several hours of episode, rather than the few hours we get for movies. I want to give special kudos to Darcy. For a character that was known for her one-liners in Thor, it was SO BADASS that she became a doctor and that it was her that discovered the WandaVision television show. I also am love Teyonah Parris as Moncia Rambeau. They casted this adult version of the character so perfectly, in which she definitely reminds me of Akira Akbar a little bit, but also such a badass adult now. I am excited her to grow with projects, especially Captain Marvel 2. I would love for her to get her own film franchise someday. This decision to start the episode with the Blip was genius. I don’t really think Spider-Man: Far From Home handled it in the way I wanted, in acknowledging the gravity of the situation. This episode did. It felt like a scene from the Walking Dead. I loved the tension and emotional reality. Lastly, the final moment of the episode between Wanda and Vision literally made me and my friend scream…like out-loud. Such a good scare. I understand that the next Doctor Strange film is supposed to be a “scary move” and if they pull scenes like that, then it really can be. -- source link
