Franklin Roosevelt meets with King Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia in February 1945 on a warship in the Suez Canal. Roosevelt gave the king a DC-3 airplane with a rotating throne that could always face Mecca when in the air. Roosevelt charmed Abdulaziz much more than Winston Churchill, who smoked and drank alcohol in front of the king and gave him a Rolls Royce in which the passenger seat (where the king would sit) was on the left, which was considered the inferior position in Saudi culture.{WHF} {HTE} -- source link
