lesbodian:lesbian-lizards:micdotcom:stylemic:Essena O'Neill has decided to quit social media — and, in the process, expose how what we see isn’t always what it seems. O’Neill has deleted nearly 2,000 of her photos, what remain have new captions explaining how she really felt when taking it, what it took to get the shot and how much she was paid. In a powerful confession video, she explains why she had to do it.Read the captions.I hope more young girls see this.this changed my perspective so much. a big portion of my life revolves around trying to look attractive to others, and that’s not all that i’m worth. in fact, that doesn’t define my worth at all, and i’m done with it.I am so proud of this incredible young woman, and just in awe at the strength and courage she has shown in being able to escape this toxic mentality, and in being willing to come forward about her experience. I’ve read through even more of her captions from IG, along with some of her writings on her new website, letsbegamechangers.com, and she is clearly a very bright, thoughtful, and passionate person. I’m so excited to see what she accomplishes in the future, and for now, I’d like to thank her for the incredibly important work she is doing in trying to educate the public and protect other girls and women from suffering the way she has at the hands of our deeply unhealthy society, along with so many others. Celebrate this young woman’s leadership - and let’s be gamechangers. -- source link
