“I was born and raised in Brooklyn and can’t imagine living anywhere else. My great-great-grandparents settled here at the end of the 19th century, so the BK pride runs deep. It’s racially and ethnically diverse, culturally rich, and just so real.I came to the Museum 7.5 years ago as its first in-house lawyer. I was an art history major in college, went straight to law school, and spent the next 10 years at a big corporate law firm. The Brooklyn Museum was one of my clients, and our relationship just grew over the years until I was doing all of their legal work. Practicing law is my trade, but what I’m particularly proud of is the work I’ve done here as Chief of Staff—the operational strategy work to support our mission; my trusted relationships staff members throughout the Museum; and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work we’ve focused on as a team.I have a special affinity for Constance Beaty’s portrait of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, which Justice Ginsburg gifted to us last year. RBG is just such an icon—as a woman right’s advocate, as a brilliant legal scholar, and as a fellow Brooklynite. She went to high school right around the corner from where I grew up. We both studied at Cornell. And we’re both tiny but mighty. She inspires me in every way.”— Francesca, Chief of Staff and General CounselThe Brooklyn Way -- source link
