What a crazy year this one’s been!!! For me it’s been the worst and the best year at the same time. So weird! I haven’t written a lot this year because, honestly, it’s been hard, all this stuff happening around us, just too overwhelming. But… I’ve written some - so happy with my latest story, ‘The Door In the Wall’. Big pat on the back for that!! And I’ve also written my first screenplay. Another big pat on the back!•••I wrote the screenplay really on a lark. Someone here on Insta approached me and asked if I had movie ideas, and I thought, hold on, do I? So I went for a walk in the woods, brainstormed with my partner - forever grateful for this guy! Stories are not born without brainstorming! ⚡️- and came up with a movie idea, then I got FinalDraft, which is like Word for screenplay writing, read a few screenplays - from the Bourne movies and John Wick - and then wrote it. I knew nothing about screenplay writing but it didn’t take long to learn, and then I entered my script in some contests, like the AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL SCREENPLAY COMPETITION, in the category Action Drama, and although it didn’t win – hahaha, I never thought it would – it advanced to the second round. I was kind of down about that, but you know what? That’s great, actually, for my first screenplay. Out of over 13,000 screenplays entered mine made it in the first 20%. Wow! Not too shabby! Anyway, I’m really proud of myself right now!!•••There are still 2+ months left in this year and I’m starting a new novel, a sequel to my Holmesian mystery “AN AFFAIR AT OXBRIDGE”, and I’ll be writing the screenplay first and then the novel - using the screenplay as the first draft for the novel. I’m really excited about that, or curious how different the screenplay will be than the novel. •••Ok – SMASHCUT – here’s me and my doodles I made while I was sketching out my action drama screenplay.
