Sundays, when I was a kid, where days where you’d go to visit people. It was a bit like in the Victorian novels. You sat down with coffee usually and sweets, and made small talk. •••I can’t think of anyone I’d like to visit on Sundays… oh, no, wait… I can think of someone! I’m going to visit DORIAN GRAY for tea and cucumber sandwiches, and tell him about my latest story. I must advertise, after all.•••ME: Hey Dorian, long time no see, how are you? You look so… handsome… you haven’t aged a day since the last time I read your story, like, what? 20 years ago?! What’s the secret to your flawless skin? Anyway… You know, I wrote my first horror short story. It’s called “THE DOOR IN THE WALL”, and I know you like to read…DG: I only read one book.ME: Oh, right, forgot about that. You’re obsessed with that one book, what was it? Is it good?DG: You should read it. It changed my life.ME (rolling my eyes and biting into a cucumber sandwich): Um… I’m not sure I want to read it. I don’t want to end up like you. Crazy, I mean. No offense. But hey, since you’re so popular with people who read, I thought maybe you’d help me spread the word about my story, and get people to read it. Like, you could tell that painter who did your famous portrait. Where is your famous painting, btw? DG: Don’t speak of it!ME: Oh, ok. What’s behind that locked door?DG: Get out!ME: So I guess you don’t want to read my story, huh? DG (looking really mad and not as handsome anymore): Get out! And don’t ever come by here again. •••Jumping jellyfish, this Sunday visit didn’t go well at all. I knew I shouldn’t have mentioned the painting. He’ll never read my story now. •••And here’s me and my book!#indieauthor #indieauthorsofinstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/p/CIwduWvHNi6/?igshid=p3niicq3pkp2 -- source link
