We managed to escape for two years - and two weeks after the end of the mask mandate, we were down with the motherfucker. It’s been a week since the PCR and we’re okay, but still feeling the lingering effects of the virus and the week at home. Our symptoms were mild but varied and abundant, and one of our mantras this week was ‘imagine how much worse this could have been if we weren’t triple vaccinated’. One day I was feeling so miserable that I baked a cake and picked up the camera to take these random photos of what this week looked like. I wanted to write emails and fanfiction, but had the hardest time looking at the computer and being at my desk. I started a new top, because I can knit almost lying down. The cough isn’t nice, and neither are the cramps or headaches. We cleaned the apartment, today, and now feel like we ran a marathon; yesterday I vigorously mixed the batter for some crepes and I had to sit down. We’ll build our strength back in the next few weeks, but I can’t help but feel like we were so lucky: this didn’t interfere with work in any way, and we get to be slightly more relaxed during the first weddings of the season. We had to cancel our Eurovision party, but we had fun with our friends on WhatsApp; a couple of other things were delayed or canceled, but we made up for it with the communities we built and consolidated during this time. It feels like it was the longest and the shortest week ever, and I’m not sure how ready I feel to get back on the horse. We’ll see.
