vincentbriggs:I still haven’t got any good full length photos of me wearing this coat (I want to alter my grey wool breeches before I do that, because they’re way too long) but here’s the picture I submitted to the Historical Sew Monthly challenge! August’s theme was “out of a portrait” and I wasn’t planning on doing anything for it, but then in late July I saw this cute miniature portrait on pinterest and realized I had everything necessary already in my stash, and I figured that since the restrained colour scheme will go with lots of things it’d be a very good coat to have. It has a bit of machine sewing, but the majority is by hand. It took 61 hours. The portrait was sold by Ellison Fine Art, and the listing has since been taken down, but they didn’t have any information there when it was up aside from the fact that it’s Irish. I’d date it to the late 1780’s or early 90’s though. -- source link
