A Pascaline, a mechanical calculator devised by Blaise Pascal, mid 1600s. Pascal’s father was a tax collector, and needed a more efficient way to do his calculations. The machine can add, subtract, multiply, and divide (the multiplication and division is done by adding or subtracting over and over again).
