ygoreviews:B. Skull Dragon————————————————“Summoned Skull” + “Red-Eyes B. Dragon”(This card is always treated as an “Archfiend” card.)————————————————Can Be Found In: Dark Beginning 1 (DB1-EN153), Metal Raiders (MRD-EN018), Legendary Collection 4: Joey’s World Mega Pack (LCJW-EN054), Millenium Pack (MIL1-EN011), 2002 Booster Pack Tins (BPT-006), Tournament Pack: 3rd Season (TP3-004), Dark Legends (DLG1-EN029), Retro Pack (RP01-EN028)As years passed, Fusion Monsters made their setups easier to play arround with not only expanded options but also simplifying the materials required for their summon. This might have lost the main premise of two or more specific monsters becoming into one powerful being, but when other Extra Deck mechanics have it far easier to gather arround it was a needed changed to keep Fusion strategies at the same pace. However, that doesn’t mean that old school Fusion Monsters didn’t had their days of glory, as thanks to the big pool of supporting cards arround their materials allows them to have some prevalence even in current days.“B. Skull Dragon” was one of the strongest monsters statwise to arrive in the card game, as well being the combination of the two classic monsters “Summoned Skull” and “Red-Eyes B. Dragon”. 3200 ATK is good enough to beat many foes on its own, making it a solid choice to work with its Fusion Summon. As years passed “B. Skull Dragon” is unable to match current Fusion Monsters with simpler conditions yet powerful abilities, but thanks to the many resources arround its two materials makes this Fusion Monster far easier to bring out than was on its debut. Both “Summoned Skull” and “Red-Eyes B. Dragon” are Normal Monsters with also archetypes to work arround with, providing a massive card pool to gather together and Fusion Summon “B. Skull Dragon” without many difficulties. As soon our first turn begins “Red-Eyes Fusion” will immediately Fusion Summon this creature by using both materials directly from inside our Deck, becoming one of the most effortless methods to summon “B. Skull Dragon”. We can take a more traditional approach by adding both monsters to our hand with the help of cards like “Fusion Conscription” and “Summoner’s Art” looking for them, to more specific options arround their respective archetypes such as “The Black Stone of Legend” or “Archfiend Heiress”. Obviously we can add replacements to the mix to further increase our chances for the Fusion Summon, with “King of the Swamp” or “Elemental HERO Prisma” among others taking the role of one of those monsters. Finally there’s the late game options which are as wide as any other, not only by many revival effects such as “Birthright” and “Red-Eyes Spirit” bringing back these materials back to the field, but also the Spell Card “Dragon’s Mirror” directly banishing them from the Graveyard for the Fusion Summon. With the many chances from early to late game to be summoned, “B. Skull Dragon” easily compensates its lack of effects to become an incredible annoyance as soon the Duel starts. Its 3200 ATK suffices to defeat most monsters wandering arround nowadays, and we can take advantage of cards like “Skill Drain” to shut down the opponent’s effects as this monster battles freely. The Fusion is part of the Archfiend archetype, so we can play arround cards such as “Falling Down” to steal opponent monsters or “Archfiend’s Roar” reviving it back for a turn. Let’s not forget its own materials, as thanks to their postion as Normal Monsters and core members of their archetype(s) can gather along its own Fusion to overwhelm the opponent together.“B. Skull Dragon” is a relic of its time, as while powerful by stats alone is easily overshadowed by many other Fusion Monsters including those requiring the same materials such as “Archfiend Black Skull Dragon”. However, “B. Skull Dragon” might not be the best its two materials can offer, but with a massive list of cards making its Fusion Summon virtually free in many situations and supporting tools to compensate the lack of effects makes it a powerful beign despite its obsolete status. So while “B. Skull Dragon” might have lost its position arround its two materials due better choices, is in far better conditions to be played compared to back on its debut.Personal Rating: B+ High stats+ Very easy to summon from early to late game+ Well supported overall- Overshadowed by stronger Fusion Monsters sharing the same materials -- source link
