Colfax, Louisiana, is obviously a town that has always believed in locking miscreants up.  The top photo is what remains of the town’s first jail.  If you look closely, you can see that it was originally built with horizontal logs that were later covered with vertical lumber.  It was replaced by the brick structure in the second pair of photos, which was the second jail.  The second jail was replaced by the building in the bottom set of photos.  You can see the foundation from the old courthouse and its vault in front of the third jail.    These days, there’s a new courthouse and jail in town.   -- source link
