spookyparis:Greek Mythology 2/?Aneurin Barnard as PatroclusPatroclus of Phthia, is renowned as the friend and lover of Achilles in the Iliad. Patroclus accompanied Achilles to the Trojan War. As a suitor of Helen, Patroclus himself was obliged by the oath of the suitors. When Achilles refused to fight, Patroclus begged him to let him wear his armor, and so, dressed as Achilles, Patroclus fought bravely, killing fifty-three soldiers, until Apollo himself stunned Patroclus, leaving him for Hector to murder. Engraged that Hector had killed Patroclus, Achilles was furious enough to re-join the battle to get his revenge. Achilles killed Hector and then desecrated his corpse, by dragging it around by the belt Hector had received as a gift from Ajax. Both Achilles and Patroclus’s ashes were buried in the same urn and tomb, so they could find each other again in the afterlife. -- source link
