thegentlemanscloset:This is quite the outfit. Created by Hans Erich Friese for Elector Johann Georg I of Saxony by request of his mother Dowager Princess Sophie of Saxony. This was worn by Georg I as part of a ceremonial outfit for Christmas in 1611.The extensive embroidery on this silk outfit depicts various locations in Saxony, as well as scenes of activities such as hunting and fishing. The map details aren’t just on the cloak either. The waistcoat has map scenes, as do the breeches and even the hat!I can’t even begin to imagine the number of hours it must have taken to produce this, let alone the cost of such an object. In the collection of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden Museum. -- source link
