agirlnamedally: Hey friends, today is the first day of Meat Free Week! If you’ve ever wanted to consider yourself an environmentalist, humanitarian, animal lover or simply compassionate human being, now is your chance I was going to share some of the harrowing information that originally caused me to change my life a couple of years ago but accidentally ended up getting real sad, so instead I’m just going to let you know some sustainability facts: A plant based diet reduces your carbon footprint by 50% You save 2 months worth of water (3000+ litres) simply by skipping one hamburger Animal agriculture is responsible for 91% of amazon destruction Livestock is responsible for 65% of nitrous oxide emissions (296 x more destructive than CO2) Animal agriculture is the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution and habitat destruction A person following a vegan diet uses 1/18th land and 1/13th water compared to a meat eater If everyone in the USA ate no meat or for just one day a week, it would be the equivalent of taking 5 million cars off the road. It would mean so much to me (and literally the entire planet) if you could even just stop eating animals for even one week. I am more than happy to answer any questions, send you links and resources, find recipes or even make you a plant based meal plan. Anything at all that can help, please don’t ever hesitate to ask. Please get involved in #meatfreeweek, you’ll be improving your health, saving money, saving lives and literally changing the world ♻️ (at www.earthlings.com ) -- source link
