genderqueerpositivity:(Image description: a gif of asexual and aromantic spectrum flags, in the center is a pink heart with the words “I love being queer.” centered in white text.“ End image description.)@rikasjougasakis I’m going to assume that you didn’t look at even the url of my blog before shitting your comment into a keyboard. Otherwise I would be left to believe that you’re a TERF. Intentionally calling a genderqueer person a “straightie” and implying that a genderqueer person can’t be “lgbt” is full-on TERF behavior. No, I will be nice like Tumblr has asked me to and I will assume that, rather than being an all-out transphobic ass, you simply saw the word “queer” on an ace flag, and had no other thought than to be as obnoxious and ace-antagonistic as possible. And in the process, it looks as if you forgot that LGBT a-specs exist. Lesbian aces, gay demisexuals, bi aromantics, trans gray-asexuals, pan arofluxes, and queer demiromantics–all exist, among dozens of other possible identities. LGBT a-specs are not less LGBT for being a-spec. It’s been a popular discourse talking point for a long time that “when we say aces aren’t welcome in the lgbt community, that only means cishet aces”. Y'all have tried to claim that the LGBT community can be ace exclusionary without this harming LGBT aces. That is obviously and glaringly false. Instead of caring about LGBT aces, you’ve (plural, referring to exclusionists in general from here on out) made a point of simply trying to erase us. Of trying to force us to put our ace identity in a separate box from the rest of our sexuality. Of trying to make us separate our ace identity from our queer identities. We’re inconvenient. We muddy the discourse waters and fuck with your “US” vs “THEM” divide. We get in the way, so in order to get around that you’ll have to make us invisible. So y'all have pushed the narrative that LGBT aces are just confused and suffering from internalized -isms (see: the “mogai hell identity” meme). You’ve deemed asexual identity “cringey” and gone out of your way to infantilize aces. And, like rikasjougasakis, y'all are deliberately pushing to associate the asexual flag with heterosexuality. Y'all hate aces so much that none of you give a single goddamn how many fellow LGBT people you step on in the process. And let me tell you, I find such willingness to throw your own people under the bus for the sake of tumblr discourse reprehensible. I am just as disgusted by every LGBT person who has had the sheer nerve to tell me which parts of my identity I’m allowed to call queer as I am by every cis-straight person who has called me a dyke. Your gatekeeping bullshit does nothing for me. It doesn’t protect me within the LGBT community and it doesn’t protect me from homophobia at work and it doesn’t stop me from being afraid of transphobia while looking for apartments and it doesn’t protect me from queerphobia when I’m in public. It doesn’t give me access to gender neutral bathrooms or gender therapy or HRT. You know, remember the real shit we used to be concerned about before we started getting our panties in a twist because someone brought an ace flag to a pride event? My LGBTQ+ community will be ace and aro inclusive and anything else is just more bullshit. -- source link
