wintercyan:[Meta-post on Steve’s body count in MCU.]Thank you, nicocoer! Pop culture media’s (especially comics’) opinion on killing is extremely fascinating to me. It’s true that in Captain America vol. 5 #5 (2005) we see Bucky retconned as a wetworks operative keeping Cap’s hands squeaky clean for propaganda purposes (Colonel Philips tells Steve that “just like Captain America has symbolic value, an American teenager fighting alongside him, that’s a powerful symbol too. And if he gets his hands a little dirtier than most soldiers when no one’s looking … well, that’ll be our secret, right?”)That’s pretty gruesome, honestly. However, Cap’s “no kill” policy in the comics is at best an intermittent commitment; in Captain America #254 (1981), for instance, we got this terrifyingly memorable scene:(Yes, that is Cap decapitating Baron Blood with his shield. Holy crap.)[Alternative read more because the cut doesn’t seem to work.] Keep reading -- source link
