walkthesame: The Bridge To Destruction (#wtsdevo Humility)First pride, then the crash - the bigger the ego, the harder the fall. - Proverbs 16:18I’ve seen so much around me over the years disintegrate purely due to the poison of pride. I myself was in the same fix before the Lord saved me, and it was so bad that it had come to the point where I’d have disintegrated myself, if Christ hadn’t come to my rescue and saved me from the mess I had made for myself and the intense pride I was swimming in. It is interesting how the Bible warns us about the dangers of pride constantly- and rightly so. We all have it and we tend to love it not realizing that we are building bridges towards our own destruction. Consider the pharisees in the New Testament; they were hell-bent on their thinking. They took pride in their belief that Jesus was not the promised Messiah, and went well out of their way to ensure that Jesus was killed and forgotten. But their pride blinded them to the truth and transformed them into cold and calculating people. With time, things just fell apart and Christ continues to be remembered whilst the pharisees are almost unheard of. Speaking of Jesus, He showed and shared with us the cure for pride - humility. His life and death consistently displayed this purest form of humility that He urges us to adopt into our own lives. What’s disappointing and tragic though is that He came down to us prideful people, and died on the cross for us prideful people. The result of this great love is incredible and life changing but for some of us, our own pride is what stops us from experiencing this love and seeing the goodness that comes from humility. In closing, my prayer is that we can all grow to be Christians that choose humility over pride. I believe that gaining wisdom from humility is far better than breaking your neck trying to cross over the rickety bridge formed by pride. The stuck-up fall flat on their faces, but down-to-earth people stand firm. - Proverbs 11:2____________________________________________Devotional Series: Humility (#wtsdevo humility)By: Elle \ Personal // Walk the Same // Color Movement -- source link
