cpshoes:#GuestShoes #CrossdisabilityWhen it comes to accessibility, being a clacker can be a good thing.Although this blog is usually focused on shoes worn by people who have cerebral palsy, I am interested in how people with disabilities, broadly defined, interact with material culture, particularly shoes and fashion. The following story is a great example of that:This week one of my coworkers told me that, while escorting a group of guests into the building who were blind, she was told that her shoes were blind-friendly because the clickety clack of her heels against the polished brick floor made it easy for them to follow her. Coincidentally, the shoes’ noise provided an added benefit for their owner. My coworker is deaf and wearing literally loud shoes made it possible for our guests to follow her without her having to try to speak audibly and clearly. Fashion can be an accommodation and an accessibility best practice! -- source link
