You’re probably thinking this was a glorified toy that probably couldn’t move in a straight line, and you couldn’t be more wrong. Gemini robots actually could understand complex voice commands (though you had to read a manual) and it was possible to directly program them with a BASIC interface. Their programming was open source so hobbyists could modify them. They were incredibly ahead of their time and in some ways, superior to many modern voice interfaces and comprehension. Nolan Bushnell made publicly available the source code of the Gemini, along with schematics, here. So if you are technically inclined, you can build your own. Page not found :( -- source link
