Here are some things that I’ve done and/or experienced that make me feel anger–and that anger is calm, like background static, and drives me to improve myself:/- Having to smile as white people say racism is over and that this is a free country where black people are free to succeed and even become perpetrators of “racism” against white people. Watching white people jump through hoops to find examples of how they’ve been personally wronged by racialized people. Having to comfort white people when they tell me they’ve experienced an injustice by a non-white person while also respectfully explaining that even though that wasn’t right, it wasn’t racism, and it wasn’t systemic./- Listening to white people explain to me that there is black-on-white violence elsewhere, that there are atrocities perpetrated by non-white people elsewhere, that violence is human nature, that violence only begets violence, that all violence is equal, therefore there is no point try to fix the source of violence here. posted on Instagram - https://instagr.am/p/CA82yM8h3Bs/ -- source link
