The thesis orals board of Sam Williams-Baron ’21 was a hand-raising experience! Prof. Noelwah Netusil reports that Sam was in a Vollum classroom, and the lights kept going off, so he had to wave his hands every 15 minutes to turn them back on. The assembled faculty members decided to celebrate the end of his oral defense by waving their hands too!Pictured (clockwise from top left): Jeff Parker [economics], Kelly Chacón [chemistry], Yalçın Özkan [sociology], Sam Williams-Baron ’21, and Noelwah Netusil [economics].Sam’s thesis is titled “Investigating the Effects of Wildfires on Local Labor Markets and Economic Activity.” See his card and others on the digital laurels board: https://www.reed.edu/thesis-board/ -- source link
