A little reminder for my future self or anyone who plans on making leaf stepping stones: you pour the concrete on the underside of leaves. That’s what I did the first time (top stepping stone) and I ended up with a beautiful, deep and well defined design. Now the bottom one I made a couple of weeks after and I was so excited after the successful first try, I didn’t even blink when pouring the concrete on the wrong side of the leaf. It was super disappointing, especially as I made two that day, wasted so much concrete and time and you can see the result. Messy and barely anything visible. The other leaf was a lot bigger than these two, but turned out the worst, so I just put it out of sight, under the cherry tree. I’ll probably make more at some point, but for now I’ve had enough. I ended up putting these two right at the entrance of the berry garden. There’s this small place where I don’t have any mulch so it gets muddy when it rains. Even though they weren’t planned for that place specifically, it worked nicely. Now if both of them would’ve turned out right, would’ve been even better, but it is what it is. -- source link
