Marilyn Monroe on the set of BUS STOP (1956).Moviemaking, for the most part, is waiting. There are so many photos from this particular scene, taken at various points during the day, and browsing them you get an idea of how torturous a shoot can be. Waiting, setting up, instructions for everyone, a retake, another retake, another retake because there was something with the sound, pause, another take, breaking things up and setting them up again for a different camera angle, retakes, re-applying make up, photographer stills, new instructions, more retakes, another retake because something collapsed somewhere in the back, and all the while there’s that pale but sharp sun dulling your senses. And before you say: “Psh, actors get paid millions, boohoo”—Marilyn Monroe got paid peanuts for her roles. -- source link
