On November 1, 1971, a small collective of gay activists, led by Jearld Moldenhauer, published the first issue of “The Body Politic,” Canada’s first gay liberation newspaper. The writers and activists associated with “The Body Politic” helped lead Canada’s LGBTQ revolution, even after the paper ceased publication in 1987.
