It is about our philosophy of how the world works, our philosophy of our place in the world, and about how that philosophy is embodied in the things we build. Reimagining our infrastructure is one of the greatest opportunities humans have to move decisively toward a better future, and to put a saner, kinder, greener philosophy into place.People thinking about cities are slowly starting to understand the deeper consequences of the changes in our time… But! Their thinking is still stuck with the physical infrastructure!! Not that the physical infrastructure is not important but what is increasingly much more important is the transformation of the information and communication structures. These structures are transformation how we see the world as well as how we relate to each other. In short it transforms the most fundamental components in the very core of humanity - the capability of building social groups and societies. When comparing the communications infrastructure to the physical infrastructure like houses we know that the power of communication is that it shapes how we perceive these houses. If the collective perception of a certain physical structure changes it change the complete value of it.The point is that the transformation of our communication structure is likely the deepest change humanity face right now - much more fundamental than the factory, the railroads and even the atom bomb.
