girlsbydaylight:Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon - Act 01 [x]Literally everything about this is my favorite.  EVERYTHING.  I hardly know where to begin unpacking it!  Their first meeting is an insult, where she smacks him in the face with her crumpled up test, which is super rude, so he’s super rude right back, and it’s hilarious, they’re both hilarious, and it’s instant chemistry and I love both of these rude babies SO DAMNED MUCH.I just.  Sorry, I’m never going to be sorry about how much I love Mamoru’s, “Would it make you feel better if I had a lump on my head, too?” comment.  POSSIBLY MY FAVORITE LINE IN THE WHOLE SERIES, at least for hilarity’s sake.But then it’s a stream of Usagi making amazing faces and I really can’t blame Mamoru for any teasing he ever does to Usagi, because LOOK AT THAT FACE, it’s perfect and precious and I fucking love it, so IMAGINE HOW MUCH MAMORU LOVES IT, even if they’re both not really focusing on each other at this moment, that there’s obviously a connection, but mostly it’s just UGH WHAT A RUDE DUMB.But it is a fateful encounter, you can see it with the way Usagi looks back and is surrounded by flowers and it’s beautifully drawn and not just goofy faces, even as she’s clearly still irritated.And yet my favorite.MY FAVORITE THING OF ALL.Is Mamoru in the middle of the street wearing a beautiful and formal tuxedo that looks amazing, even as old as the manga is, that’s still a seriously beautiful outfit, but.  In.  The.  Middle.  Of.  The.  Day.  He’s just.  Standing there, casing the jewelry joint.And I always, always, always think of that post by sailorfailures, about how people find Mamoru boring and sometimes that’s confusing to fans of the character, because he’s literally standing in the middle of the street in a formal tuxedo because he’s casing a jewelry store and thinks this is an A+++ plan and not at all conspicuous.I love it because it’s silly and genuinely cool at the same time.  Like, Mamoru is both and that’s what I love about the character!  That’s what all of these characters have, where they can be flailing dorks one moment, but they’re going to whip around and have an amazing moment right after that.  They’re both and that’s pretty amazing for a manga that doesn’t have a lot of time for characterization.Mostly, though, I just want these precious babies to smoosh their faces together forever and bang EVERYWHERE in Crystal Tokyo’s palace while Small Lady wails at her parents for being THE MOST EMBARRASSING EVER OMFG. -- source link
