Every now and then an opportunity comes along that makes you pinch yourself with disbelief. I LOVE Pyne and Smith. Their style is right up my cottage core, flower-strewn alley, the cuts are flattering and adjustable, and my goodness, as someone who loves fabric so much she took a whole elective on it in college Just Because, their linen is AMAZING. For my fellow sewists, the closest comparison I’ve found is Merchant and Mills. It’s that good. Buttery soft and holds up incredibly well to washing. The fabric alone is worth every penny. Now, I want to be super clear about something: THIS IS NOT AN AD. I was NOT paid to say this. This is just my personal opinion, as someone who loves fabric, and is so grateful to have found dresses that fit my style, are comfortable to wear and feel good on my fussy, sensory issue skin. This is also my thank you to the owner, Joanna: your beautiful dresses have made this exhausted freelancer’s life easier. Your wonderful products have made me feel good about myself while literally buying me hours of time. Thank you for what you do! So, because I love these dresses so much, I’ve painted them a few times, as you might have seen. By some miraculous twist of social media fate, Joanna saw these paintings, too, and asked if I’d be interested in doing an art exchange: a painting for two dresses. Of course I said yes!!! So here’s what I painted for her, featuring two Pyne and Smith dresses I already owned: the model 30 in blue Georgian stripe and the model 32 pinafore in gray. Curious which dresses I chose in exchange? I picked the model 12 in Harris Check and the model 17 in Brixham Check. I’ve already worn them both a ton of times, and I’m sure they’ll appear in a what I wore painting down the line. I still can’t believe someone whose work I admire likes my work in return. Pinch pinch pinch! The internet can be terrible sometimes, filled with hate and anger, but every now and then something magical happens here. Thanks, Joanna, for asking me to paint for you, and for making dresses I love. -- source link
