Sometimes you get art as homework and that’s just awesome. This was a piece I made for a uni assignment that had to be related to the theme “My Biology Story”. Well for me, my interest in all things biological actually started with dinosaurs! These two were the first dinosaur toys I ever owned, an Apatosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus, given to me for Christmas by my grandparents when I was two years old. There were plenty of things later in my childhood that really cemented my love of dinosaurs and palaeontology, but these two toys were the ones that got that entire train going. So, in an artwork themed around my biology story, I thought it’d be neat to draw some parallels between my first encounter with dinosaurs and where I am now, by updating my old dinosaur toys into new forms that fit with a modern understanding! The Apatosaurus was especially challenging since the original toy is just flat gray, so I had to do a bit of,,, creative interpretation. Turns out I actually love this patterns and might end up using it in the future cause I think it’s neat!So yeah this was a bit of a nice sentimental piece for me, and an opportunity for reflection on my journey through palaeontology, and I’m very happy with it! I think everyone has that one moment or thing that got them started, and this felt like a nice way to pay tribute to mine! -- source link
