What a wild ride! I had no idea what to expect when I entered Beacon. I just thought, “what’s the harm? Worst case scenario I get a no and a kick ass resume.” And then I became a winner and thought, “Well, now what.” So, I decided to go because I figured again, what’s the harm. Aside from getting little to no sleep the worst I would do was learn something. And maybe have flash backs to sitting in college lectures. I promise you, all of that happened. But I also met some really great people! Surprise, surprise, I was expecting to just have to go it alone. So, they didn’t talk about nails and almost everyone did hair but there were still messages that resonated (and some that didn’t. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). Like, hope. Hope for the industry’s future and hope for my future as a person in the industry. I learned what I wanted and where I wanted to go and how to get there. I heard some of the most amazing stylists speak about all sorts of things. I saw runway shows and winners at NAHA. It was long. It was tough. Some times I wanted nothing more than to take a nap. And it was worth it. Thanks to all of my friends and my school who pushed me and made me do this and prepared me. The gift of going to an event like this for someone like me is invaluable. For someone who has big dreams but low self esteem to see what could be has been motivation to get moving on my future now. Wish me luck! ♥️Kate -- source link
