pardonmybloomers:1,000th post! And what better way to celebrate than announcing the winner of my “Name My Print” contest?Congratulations to Boringshiksa for giving me the name “Gallifrey” for this set!Gallifrey, for those who don’t know, is the name of the planet that the Time Lords of the BBC series “Doctor Who” come from.I picked this print name because it reminds me of how brands like MM and IW name their pieces - with a name instead of a print half the time. To me, “Gallifrey JSK” “Gallifrey Skirt” and “Gallifrey Vest” roll off the tongue pretty well, they’re not a mouthful, AND the plaid is quite reminiscient of some of the past incarnations of the Doctor. The set, as a whole, comprises of an a-line retro style JSK, an extremely full long cupcake skirt, a headband with detatchable bow, and a vest for my fiance (the last two not pictured here). The way I designed the JSK and skirt was that they could be worn separately as nice pieces or together for a completely different look, to give me loads of different coord options. I seem to love the skirt and JSK together the most.Alone, I can wear the JSK with a cutsew or a turtleneck as a more casual coord or a very retro-librarian non-loli style. I can wear the skirt with the same cutsew or turtleneck with the skirt for an equally retro look or a very classic Lolita look depending on my petticoat and my accessories. Together, without a blouse the JSK/SK combo gives me a 50’s dress or a wonderful longer Classic JSK silhouette. The last picture is my coord for Frilladelphia’s International Lolita Day meetup on Sunday (yes, I know it’s actually Saturday but I’m wearing Ruffle Cosmos then for a bunch of reasons), so here’s the outfit rundown:JSK+SK combo - selfmadeHeadbow (not pictured) - selfmadeTurtleneck - offbrand, gift from my grandmotherStar necklace - same as aboveCardigan - secondhand, heavily altered by meGlasses - secondhand, my mother’s (which suprisingly are my perscription!)Bag - offbrandLace stockings - Charlotte RusseRed heels - Hot TopicAnd you’ll all just have to wait to see my fiance’s component to this! <3(In case anyone’s wondering why the glasses are part of the coord, it’s because they’re gold. My everyday glasses are a deep grey, so I wear them with cool colors and silvertone metals; I wear the gold ones with warm colors and goldtones.) -- source link
