Claude-Nicolas Malapeau (after Jean Duplessis-Bertaux) - Closing of the Jacobin Club on Rue Saint-Honoré, during the night of 27-28 July 1794, or 9-10 Thermidor, year 2 of the Republic (1802).The Jacobin Club on Rue Saint-Honoré was housed in the Couvent de l'Annonciation (est. 1611), a Dominican monastery founded by Sébastien Michaëlis, a French inquisitor.Michaelis was vice-inquisitor in Avignon during the 1580s and was involved in a number of witch trials which led to at least 14 women being convicted, tortured, and burnt. -- source link
