Happy Saturday! . Today instead of hiking into the wilderness or scaling a large rock face, Amanda and I are cleaning the RV and beginning the 1000 mile drive to Bear Valley in Northern California to attend Pursuit with @theoutbound . The photo above is Amanda and @sschorsch1 climbing above pitch 6 on the East face of the Petit Grepon (which we just climbed on Thursday), over 700 feet above the ground in Glacier Gorge. . Rock climbing is all about managing risk. However, the more committing a climb is, the greater the challenge of managing that risk becomes. When you are hours away from the ground on exposed terrain, you need to be able to think on your feet, improvise, and solve problems efficiently. . On our decent from the Petit our ropes got stuck not once but twice. It took some extra time and effort but we managed to retrieve our ropes and make it safely to the ground. . Ultimately, the decision to climb or remain on the ground comes down to this question: are you prepared to deal with the consequences of your actions if things don’t go as planned? And while this can be a challenging decision to make, we’ve found that in life AND in climbing the rewards for taking this risk can be spectacular! (at Rocky Mountain National Park) -- source link
