This past week hasn’t been easy. On Tuesday Bazyl had a slight surgery of removing a weird and itchy spot that suddenly appeared on his back paw. He kept licking it like crazy but vets wouldn’t know what that was. Finally our main vet decided to have it removed and sent for histopathological test. We are waiting for the results, meanwhile Baz is recovering. He ain’t getting any younger so he’s taking anaesthesia worse. He also hates wearing a collar. Unfortunately, the one you see in the pic turned out to be too small, as the stitches are on his back paw, right at the very end of it, between his fingers actually. We bought a bigger one but it was too small again. Cats are amazing acrobats so he was able to stretch his paw so that he would lick it no matter the size of the collar. We actually stitched one collar to another to make it as long as possible :D Since it’s hard for him to walk in it, he only gets it for the night so that we can get some sleep. During the days we take it off and he is able to walk freely - only watched by either myself or my husband. So that means being next to him all the time, watching if he’s not trying to lick the paw or bite into the stitches. It’s not an easy job but at least he is more comfortable. Putting the collar back on for the night isn’t easy either as he hates it and gets irritated. What is more, Bazyl’s sister always gets scared when Baz comes back from the vet. Different scents make her terrified of her own brother. It was so serious this time that apart from the usual hissing, she stopped using the litter box for 2 days. She just didn’t pee at all. A few more hours and I’d have to take HER to the vet as well :/ Things are slowly getting better and we can’t wait for Thursday to come when the stitches will be off and he will be free to walk aroud the house without us as his guards. -- source link
