art on paper’s 55 exhibiting galleries will feature work by artists who look to paper as a major influence in their sculpture, drawing, painting, and photography. Among these artists is Brooklyn-based artist, activist, and BKM friend, Swoon (via New Image Art) whose latest project is inspired by her time spent living with an indigenous community in Brazil in 2011:While traveling in Brazil in 2011 I created this portrait from a Kamayura community that is fighting the Brazilian government’s attempts to dam their rivers and destroy their ecosystems and way of life. The struggle continues. – Caledonia Curry, aka Swoon. Get a first look at work from Swoon and other exhibiting artists at #artonpaper and support #BKMEducation at the fair's Opening Night Party on Thursday March 5.
