This is something that we see fairly often with glass finds. The glass turns purple because it contains manganese, which becomes purple when exposed to ultraviolet radiation!This glass has also been solarized, but to a lesser extent. Also, solarized glass sometimes degrades into this very pretty, but very annoying glass glitter. The type of glitter that gets everywhere, you can’t get rid of, and if you touch your eyes you get glass flakes in them.(Mind you, only the most intensely solarized glass turns into glitter… just sitting in the window for a few years won’t do that)PPE and hand washing are important!Degraded glass is the worst to work with! It Absorbs Glue and tape won’t stick to it either. It’s so pretty, but so annoying.Oh I usually get rid of it by eating it. -- source link
