In the late nineteenth century, sculpture was in high demand and Rodin maintained a large workshop to capture as much of that market as possible. He supervised the translation of his clay models into other materials and by 1900 employed as many as fifty people, including plaster casters, marble carvers and bronze founders. The impressive output of his studio can be appreciated in the exhibition Rodin: The Body in Bronze, on view for one last week.
