When Harry, Ron and Hermione are camping in DH, there’s the debate about food where Hermione has to explain that it’s impossible to make food appear out of nowhere. She then mentions that it is possible to increase the quantity of food. A few pages prior to this, they obtain eggs and bread from a farm. Young me was always confused as to why they didn’t just increase the quantities of the eggs and bread and live off that (although I now realise the food frustration was there to drive the story). -- source link
