audreywritesstuff: Once upon a time on a stormy night by the sea, two things happened at almost the exact same time. Well, a lot of things happened, really, as things often do. It’s a big world, after all, and people are always doing things. But this story isn’t about the whole world and all the things that happen in it, so for now we’ll just focus on these two things. So begins the story of Ava and Marina, two best friends who grow up together in the tiny town of Swindmore-by-the-sea. Ava, who lives with her grandmother (and rumored town witch) in the rundown Ashedowne Manor, is always bursting with stories and ideas for adventures that Marina inevitably gets dragged into. Marina, meanwhile, approaches life with a scientific curiosity encouraged by her adoptive father, the lighthouse keeper. With Marina’s past shrouded in mystery, Ava crafts an elaborate story to explain how Marina, at two years old, came to be wandering the cliffs all alone in the middle of a storm. The result is an epic tale of magic and mermaids and adventure that both Ava and Marina cling to as they grow up.When rumors about a mermaid sighting start spreading through the town, however, Ava is convinced her stories are coming to life, setting off a chain of events that throws both the girls and the town into chaos that might just change them forever. -- source link
