Stallion, 2009, Marble dust, resin. This arresting cast of a fallen and partially flayed stallion completely toys with the traditional representation of this majestic animal. Typically it would be atop of a plinth carrying a grand heroic soldier immortalised in stone, but here we see it frozen in a poignant moment of pain and desperation, making us reflect on its life and demise, whereas usually it would just be perceived as a decorative symbol of power and war.
