womanistgrrrl: A Love Letter To My QT Black Fam ♥Beloved QT Black Beings,I’m reaching out to you with a heart full of love, grief, angst, hope, rage, and heaviness.At the beginning of last year, I was cautiously optimistic about what that year could become. I had moved into a beautiful house, entered into more stable employment, published my first book, and hosted a book release party. I truly felt that things were finally looking up for me. Unfortunately, colonial capitalist catastrophe struck, and the rest of the year was a shit show. Even as an abolitionist wominist, who stays wary of the ways of the world, I was disturbed by the disgusting escalation of cruelty by the capitalist class. I honestly felt (and still feel) that the current crises were (and are) a heightened continuation of a legacy of colonial genocide.Beloveds, if you are still not okay from last year, if you are still battling depression, anxiety, and stress this year, that is very okay! Our outrage and anxiousness about the state of society are emotions of love. Our grief means we still have a conscience, we can still be empathetic, and we still want something better for our world.Losing Monica Roberts, Nina Pop, Breonna Taylor, Oluwatoyin Salau, and many more QTs and Black women genuinely broke our already broken hearts. We are grieving the loss of our community members and friends. I’m grieving for my friends who contracted COVID-19 and who have not fully recovered months later. And I am upset. I’m upset with the way democrats, republicans, corporations, police, white supremacists, evangelicals, vigilantes, and the ruling class are destroying Black QT lives, the planet, and our society. I’m upset with how they are killing us, harming us, stealing from us, assaulting us, incarcerating us, deporting us, and being violent towards us.
