Being a Tarot reader who does a majority of their readings in-person, I am often asked about what tools I utilize to accept payment for my services and how I go about doing so. I know that there are many Tarot readers and diviners who are new to accepting payments for their services and I wanted to provide some information on some of the options available on the market. For transparency purposes I have put a * next to any services that I have successfully used for myself and a ** for any services I know friends and family have used. Services To Collect Payments:There are many different services available to be compensated for your readings. I will list some popular options below. Please be advised that this is not an exhaustive list by any means. Always be sure to do your due diligence and research any service before using it. Also please make sure you understand your local laws regarding taxes, liabilities, etc. * Google Wallet: Google Wallet is a fast, free way to send and request money. You can send money to someone using just their email address or phone number.Fees: Sending money directly from your bank account or Google Wallet Balance is free. Sending money using a credit or debit card has a flat fee of 2.9% per transaction.** ZellePay: A way to send money from one person’s bank to anothers. Fees: Zelle doesn’t charge a fee to send or receive money. *Some banks may charge fees to transfer money. * SqaureUp: Is a mobile credit card processing application and service that allows users the ability to create a mobile ecommerce shop. Fees: 2.75% for swiped transactions. 3.5% + 15 cents per manually entered transaction.* SquareCash: From the same creators of SquareUp, this application and service lets you send and receive money. Fees: Personal payments are free. Business payments are 2.75% (paid by recipient) Personal payments sent from a credit card are 3% (paid by sender) Instant Deposit is 1% * Stripe: Online payment processing for internet businesses. Fees: 2.9% + 30 cents per successful transaction. International card processing is an additional 1%. ** Ko-Fi: Ko-fi lets creators receive small donations from fans of their content. Fees: 2.9% plus $0.30. * PayPal Here / PayPal Invoices: An online payments system that supports online money transfers and serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods like checks and money orders.Fees: 2.9% plus $0.30. Note: Some people have had issues with Paypal accepting their business type as Tarot Reader. Because I have an entertainers license, I have had no problems using their service but keep this in mind when declaring your business type with PayPal. * Gmail: Gmail is Google’s free email service. You can send and receive money through e-mail exchange. Fees: It’s free to send money using your Google Wallet Balance, debit card, or your bank account linked to Google Wallet. Facebook Messenger: Facebook Messenger is an instant messaging service provided by Facebook. Fees: No fees for debit cards. Up to 3 days for funds to clear. ** Venmo: Venmo is a free digital wallet that lets you make and share payments with friends.Fees: Payments send using Venmo balance, bank account, debit card or prepaid card are free. Sending payments with a credit card is 3%. Payoneer: Payoneer is a financial services company that provides online money transfer and digital payment services.Fees: Payments are free from Payoneer account to Payoneer account. 1% from international accounts. QuickBooks Payments: An online payments service manager and mobile point of sales application.Fees: 2.4% Swiped. 3.4% Keyed. $0.25 Transaction fee. * Your Bank: Many banks now have the ability to allow their customers to transfer money to other users of that same bank. Fees: Depending on the bank.PayAnyWhere: PayAnywhere is a mobile and storefront payment service provided by North American Bancard.Fees: Monthly fee: $12.95. Swiped: 1.69%. Business/Rewards: 2.69%. Keyed: 3.69% + $0.19. Snapchat / SnapCash: Snapchat is an image messaging and multimedia mobile application. Fees: No fees.Blockchain: Blockchain is a company that manages bitcoin transactions. Fees: Peer to peer transactions have no set fees. PopMoney: A company that allows you to send, request and receive money with just about anyone online or through your mobile device. Fees: $0.95 to send and receive per transaction. Payza: An online payment platform lets you send and receive money, shop, make online payments or get paid from almost anywhere in the world.Fees: 1.2 % to receive funds in BTC (Bitcoin) 2.90 % + $0.30 USD to receive funds in USD. Free to send money. Xoom: A PayPal company to send and receive money and pay bills. Fees: Depending on countries exchange rate. ** Western Union: Western Union to send money online or in person to friends and family around the world to more than 200 countries and territories from the United States.Fees: Depending on countries exchange rate. CirclePay: A payment service that allows you to send money through text messages. Fees: No Fees. *Some banks may charge fees to transfer money. Transfast: A payment service that allows you to send money quickly and easily. Fees: Fees vary by transfer location, payment method and transfer amount. Verse: A mobile payment service that allows you to send and receive money. Fees: An unspecified small commission if a transaction requires a change of currency Dwolla: A mobile payment service that allows you to send and receive money to your Dwolla account and bank account. Fees: No fees under $10.
