We are all attached to results. It’s hard not to be. Our culture molds us this way. So we use our busyness to validate our worth. We don’t want to feel insignificant and we want to feel the satisfaction of outward approval, so we try to accomplish this through productivity. Busy, busy, busy. So busy sometimes that we lose the purpose of it all and end up feeling unworthy, unfulfilled and resentful. . Busyness becomes a buffer when you use it to avoid facing things you don’t want to face within yourself. The problem is not how much work you do or how ambitious you are but how much you use that work to validate your identity. . As long as you attach your worth to achieving a particular result or to being seen in a particular way, you won’t be able to embrace who you are, without labels, conditions and accomplishments. Remember, it is not what you do but it is the consciousness that you bring to what you do that makes life fulfilling. . Self-reflection: What are your motives, expectations and agendas for the work you do? How much of what you do is driven by a need to be acknowledged? .
