peacemaker-ic: I love that Sims 4 Studio automatically orders swatches. Its a handy feature that saves a lot of time when you have to do it manually. However, I found a shortcoming of the method used to organise object swatches. The method used is to alter the last 2 digits of the instance number for the object catalogue and definition resources. Although this works perfectly for a small number of swatches, but if you are like me who adds a lot of styles to an object, you may notice things get a little out of order when more then 30 styles are added. I messed around and found a solution to the issue, and I am going to share with any people encountering a similar problem. This method of swatch ordering is much like the way CAS items are ordered. We are editing the SwatchColorSortPriority value within the Object Catalog resource. By filtering the warehouse resources by instance putting the swatches in the correct order they should show up in-game, then editing the value for the SwatchColorSortPriority, the game will then show the swatches in the desired order, no matter the number of styles an object has. By changing the value in the first Object Catalog resource to 0 then every one after that with a value one greater then the resource before, its a simple, though tedious process that works around the game’s limitations when referencing instance numbers for swatch order. Note: This tutorial orders the swatches as Maxis displays them, from right to left, top to bottom. You can choose to display the swatches from the left to right, just start at the last swatch instead of the first. Hopefully this helps someone who like me likes a lot of styles and is bugged by out-of-order swatches. Probably not many of you, but I rather share the information in case it helps someone with the problem in the present or future. -- source link
