here’s an anon question i got on tumblr. i relate to this. the most recent i can think about was when the rapper latto used to go by the name mulatto. she didn’t know the true meaning but once ppl started calling her out on it, she had to make a decision. im glad she changed it. now we can focus on the music. every community goes thru this. there are a lot of white ppl who make their community look bad tbh. white supremacy as a whole makes them look bad. but other communities are just as harsh on their own. especially the black community. ive gotten my “black card revoked” just for existing. it sucks. as a #mixed person i feel that society puts pressure on us being “the future.” we’ll somehow cure racism. save the world & god forbid if anyone goes against that or “sets us back” in any way. we’re damned if we do or don’t no matter what. we’re expected to be perfect but don’t think you’re “all that.” some of us are the oppressor & also the oppressed, some of us are doubly oppressed. we gotta acknowledge our privilege, champion the less privileged, which lately has translated to “yea your situation sucks but always remember & never forget who has it worse.” we’re expected to be racial superheroes but we can’t even save ourselves. our parents are traitors to their races & we’re abominations that aren’t enough. we’re “not to be trusted” so we don’t trust anyone either. one side, both sides or multiple sides don’t accept us & when we make our own space, we’re excluding everyone. jesus christ. there’s already so much pressure on us, don’t add more love. don’t let one idiot make you hate yourself. we can’t control what others do sadly, most of us would love to shake the hell out of somebody & say are you serious rn?? but that’s the inner work that they have to do on their own. you don’t have to feel guilty or take the blame for anyone elses mistakes. yea we’re not proud of what they do. but even though they’re a celebrity or public figure, they don’t represent all of us. they’re not our spokesperson (thank god) we’re our own. we’re too colorful, unique & we are the fastest growing population. don’t let anyone else make you feel small! xoxo (at Tumblr) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcOZVBcuRNR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI= -- source link
