The siblings shared a close relationship, which however was not short of mischief, annoyance and teasing. One day, as the Tsar talked with one of his minsters, Alexei burst through the door, sobbing passionately. The Tsar got angry and told his son: “I am not your Papa now, but the Tsar and you must not interrupt me in that fashion. Go outside the door, close it, knock and wait for permission.” The boy did as ordered, closed the door and knocked. “Come in,” answered his father, upon which Tsesarevich, still sobbing, strode up to him, clicked hi heels together like an officer and saluted. “What do you want?” asked the Tsar.
