From what I’ve been able to find, I think they’re simply called “plant bugs” and they’re apparently helping to keep out rain tree from spreading too many seeds. I love their tiny vests. North Florida. Christmas bulbs!!! They sure do look like that. Plant bug is a very general term for a lot of hemipterans in different families and doesn’t really mean a whole lot without more information. Specifically these friends are red-shouldered bug nymphs, Jadera haematoloma, in the family Rhopalidae, commonly known as scentless plant bugs :) -- source link
