toughasbro:truscum-girlfriend:It may sound “stereotypical” but at least here there’s a big difference between how men and women speaks. Women generally talk faster and use more “fill” word and talk more sing-song-y. Men tend to sound more laid back and casual. It’s also a matter of the choice of words. There are words men don’t use, that women do, and the other way around. It may support some stereotype when I think “men just don’t say that”, when he says something. And he knows he’s saying things that make him uncomfortable, but he doesn’t know how to rephrase it to sound like something a man would say. But the fact is that men and women just speaks very differently and use very different words and slang. I don’t know how it is in other countries really. But it’s different here. Sometimes his way of talking is the thing that “gives him away” even if his voice sounds male. Have you listened to the sound clips I reblogged? They also illustrates this.Hope that makes sense.Generally, at least in English, women have more inflections in their speech (sing-songy), use higher pitched ‘s’, and place emphasis on modifiers (I’m SO happy, for example… He’s SO hot). Men are more monotone and less animated in general.Women also more typically end their sentences going up in pitch, and men going down. When women stress a word, they do so by speaking in a more high-pitched voice, whereas men put emphasis on a word by saying it louder. -- source link
