oxymitch: Hope Summers has been voted onto the Quiet Council but Selene causes a major problem on Krakoaland by creating a monster because she doesn’t take the rejection too well. Selene herself had left for London while the X-Men and the Council were too busy in dealing with the monster or evacuating the civilian mutants. During the monster attack, Hope Summers tells Elixir, Fabio Medina, Tempus and Proteus that they must lead the nameless mutant children to safety while she looks for the remaining civilian mutants. Hope Summers curses herself for being too soft because she no longer carries guns since she was promoted into The MacGuffin role with her four friends who were tasked in resurrecting mutants. Then, Exodus spots Hope Summers on the ground, leading civilians away from the scene. He wants her to go somewhere where she’ll be safe, but she refuses to leave anyone behind. Hope reveals that Exodus’ power grows the more people believe in him, and she knew this when she first borrowed his powers. She doesn’t want this messiah stuff, but if they combine their powers, work together and get the boost from people believing in Hope, they can win. Later, the Krakoan Gate Monster had been slowed down (but temporarily) thanks to Mister Sinister’s crazy idea. Destiny has had a vision of Selene’s future whereabouts, which she tells Hope Summers. She also tells Hope that she sees Selene dying soon after. Hope knows what this means: she has precious little time to kill Selene. So she borrows Magik’s powers to teleport there, then snipes Selene with an anti-magic bullet. Selene is eventually revived on Krakoaland, and Hope slaps her. In her weakened state, Selene is vulnerable to Exodus’ telepathy, allowing him to shut down the monster before finishing her off with a neck snap. Even though she rarely uses her guns in Krakoaland era, Hope Summers can still be ruthlessly pragmatic when it’s necessary. - Immortal X-Men #2, 2022 -- source link
